Top Flower Remedies for Grief

Bach Flower Remedies are the first subtle source of support we are looking at in our series of articles around the subject of bereavement/ grief.

Ros Thompson from Remedies with Ros is our "Go To" lady for all things Bach and she has been a tower of strength for many these past few years easpecially through the pandemic. Based on her many years experience using the flower remedies Ros has shared with us her Top Flower remedies and their specific areas of assistance around any form of grief.

When I have been asked to help someone recovering from the loss of someone, or even the loss of a beloved pet, there is a realisation that there are many different factors to consider.

The most important remedy that comes to mind initially is Star of Bethlehem , this remedy is there to alleviate the shock and trauma and ease the adrenalin release that will come at this time.

Depending on the relationship and the circumstances Holly could be used to help reduce the level of possible anger that also can arise especially if there is a lot of work left behind to sort out.  Holly can help to alleviate anger and in turn reduce stress.

Pine is also another remedy as it will help with the guilt, this is a common part of grief, the “if only” and “why” and “I wish” and the pine will help to ease the guilt which can cause a huge amount of pain.

Mimulus – can be especially important when we are looking at the death of a spouse and the widow/widower are left on their own – the fears of how they will manage and how they will cope can be easily tempered with Mimulus – the remedy for fear of the known.

Larch – again in a similar situation to Mimulus – the confidence can sometimes be lost when the widow/widower endeavour to get through from day to day on their own.

Gorse can be used to cope with the feelings of despair. Grief can bring with it many all consuming emotions, when all appears to be lost and there is a sense of desperation.  Gorse is calming and sensitive and will help to pacify the situation.

Lastly, I would also think about Walnut – the remedy to enable us to cope with change, this beautiful remedy helps to protect our emotions from the external changes that can affect us quite easily.

This is a very broad spectrum look at remedies that can help at a time of loss and bereavement, there are 38 in total to choose from, and every situation is different but I hope that this helps.
